Take off the Old Man: Colossians 3:1-17
The phrase "take off the old man and put on the new" is a expression that comes scripture. The phrase is a reference to the spiritual transformation that believers are called to undergo when they become followers of Jesus Christ. The "old man" represents a person's former self, before they accepted Christ, characterized by a sinful nature and a way of life that is opposed to God's will. The "new man" represents a person's new identity in Christ, characterized by a renewed nature and a way of life that is in line with God's will. To "take off the old man and put on the new" means to turn away from one's former sinful way of life and embrace a new way of living that is aligned with God's will. This transformation involves a change in one's thoughts, behaviors, and attitudes, and is a continual process of growth and renewal in Christ.

Tithe and Offering

2 Corinthians 9:7 KJV Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, [so let him give]; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. God's people have always been characterized by giving, but the way they've given has changed over time.  Giving is an important aspect of the Christian life. After all, Luke records that Jesus himself said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive" (Acts 20:35).  At Northside, we want to encourage all members to pray about giving and give as God leads them.
