Leviticus 6:8–13 (ESV)

8 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 9 “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering. The burnt offering shall be on the hearth on the altar all night until the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it. 10 And the priest shall put on his linen garment and put his linen undergarment on his body, and he shall take up the ashes to which the fire has reduced the burnt offering on the altar and put them beside the altar. 11 Then he shall take off his garments and put on other garments and carry the ashes outside the camp to a clean place. 12 The fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not go out. The priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and he shall arrange the burnt offering on it and shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. 13 Fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out.

The Asbury Outpouring

Marked by James 3:17
“But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.”

This move of God has been characterized by
* Radical Humility
* Radical Compassion
* Radical Confession
* Radical Change

As only God could, it is a perfect answer to the problems faced by this emerging generation and is being led by them.

“Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering. The burnt offering shall be on the hearth on the altar all night until the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.

In Fires Of Revival Remember…

#1 THE FIRE ON THE ALTAR IS AN EXTRAORDINARY FIRE

13 Fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out. (3x)

He speaks it three times — in the same chapter of the Bible

“the fire must be kept burning on the altar. … The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. … The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.”

Why was this so important?

The Scripture states, “Fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown.” (Leviticus 9:24)

It was extraordinary fire!

Revival is not something people work up. It is something God sends down.

Charles Finney, 24 Hinderances To Revival

Revival will cease…
1. When I no longer welcome revival
2. When I no longer yield to revival
3. When I become mechanical in revival
4. When I believe the revival will go on without my aid
5. When the I put my concerns ahead of God’s
6. When I get prideful in His revival
7. When I get exhausted by the labor of revival
8. When I get caught up in strange teachings
9. When I begin to proselyte other believers
10. When I refuse to be generous
11. When I grieve the Holy Spirit
12. When I lose “brotherly love”
13. When I no longer continually renew in my first love
14. When I will not practice self-denial
15. When I reject God’s “new thing”
16. When I join in the opposition of the Old School
or the bad spirit of the New School
17. When I am become distracted by worldly things
18. When I refuse to surrender my vices
19. When I turn a blind eye to suffering and injustice
20. When I forget missions
21. When I forget to disciple
22. When I slander God’s move
23. When I let let the systems become more important than the spirit
24. When I am highly critical and vocal in my criticism of others in revival

#2 THE EXTRAORDINARY FIRE IS MAINTAINED THROUGH RATHER ORDINARY MEANS

Vs 12 The priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and he shall arrange the burnt offering on it and shall burn on it the fat of the peace offerings. 13 Fire shall be kept burning on the altar continually; it shall not go out.

Though the fire itself was extraordinary the maintenance of the fire was still a very ordinary process

John Wesley referred these things as the ordinary means of grace
* prayer
* devotion
* study
* compassion
* service
* corporate worship

These are ordinary disciplines do not produce the fire, but they maintain its flame. It is not one or the the other. The need for both is essential

2023 Priorities

* Fix prayer at the center of our expression
* Make intentional discipleship missional
* Continue Give Him The Room
* Keep Pouring Out as He Pours In

We recognize that these ordinary means are the fuel upon which God can visit in an extraordinary fashion! Revival remains our vision!
