February 5, 2023 In the midst of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus transitions from “You have heard it said” to “Do not be like them!” Now He addresses your heart response to God in the conduct of your religious life toward Him. How do you give and pray and fast? Do you perform for men, or do you sacrifice for God? Do you seek the applause of people, or do you pursue the approval of God? The heart counts and motives determine the reward, for it is God who authenticates the acts of righteousness.
