Hebrews 12:1-5

Don’t become weary with the assigned course/race the Lord has set before you
A. Because of the example/testimony of those who have already run theirs. B. Because of the example/testimony of Jesus Himself.
Don’t become weary because of sin (lay it aside; get untangled)
Don’t become weary of your cross (denying your self, picking up your cross and following; Matt 26:24)
A. The cross for Jesus. 1. A place of assignment/calling. 2. A place of responsibility on behalf of/toward/for others. 3. A place to die (personally): wrestling in Gethsemane; following through on Golgotha.
B. Our parallel responsibilities (same context: 3A) and things that specifically make us weary (Ga 6:1-10):
1. Expending your resources (physical, emotional, financial, time investment, etc.) in caring/reaching to others (Ga 6:1).
2. Living with the sustained weight of multiple responsibilities. a. Bearing one another’s burdens (Ga 6:2). a. Bearing your own load (Ga 6:5). c. Doing good to others; especially/specifically to fellow believers (Ga 6:7,8).
Dealing with self-deception (your own; others) (Ga 6:3,4). 4. Responding to leaders (Ga 6:6). 5. Waiting for the harvest from “seeds” you have previously planted (Ga 6:9).
C. Find and keep focused on the assigned (future) joy. 1. The joy of influencing others for eternity (Heb 12:2). 2. The joy of full obedience on a personal level (Heb 12:2). 3. The joy of finishing (sitting down) (Heb 12:2). 4. The joy that comes from the assurance that God will make everything worth it (Ga 6:7,8)
Don’t become weary of human opposition.
A. Abel and . . . (Heb 11:4). B. Noah and . . . (11:7).
C. Abraham and . . . (11:17). D. Isaac and . . . (11:20).
E. Jacob and . . . (11:21). F. Joseph and . . . (11:22).
G. Moses and . . . (11:23). H. Jesus and . . .

Don’t become weary of God’s correction of you.
A. Remember the exhortation (personal/relational) (Heb 12:5). B. Do not take the process lightly: understand that the goal/end/finished product will be worth it. 1. Life (Heb 12:9). 2. For our own personal good and best interests (Heb 12:10). 3. To be partakers in His holiness (Heb 12:10). 4. The harvest: righteousness; peace (Heb 12:11). C. Acknowledge that yourself have not had to pay the ultimate price for your faith (yet) (Heb 12:4).
