Worship Gathering - Shape UP #3
Focus this Sunday:
This Sunday, we finish our sermon series on Spiritual Formation. In this series, we are focusing on four practices of Jesus, with the desire to model our lives after Jesus and depend on who He is in order to become who God wants us to be. This week we look at the practice of Silence and Solitude. What does God have to say to you in this?
Join us Sunday at 10:30am either onsite or online! The link to the online service is on our website at (www.emmettnaz.org) and click on the Link to the Service.
Reflection Questions: (Privately or invite a few friends to discuss!)
1. What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?
2. Read Mark 1:35–35 and Mark 6:30–31. These passages reflect silence and solitude in some context. What is happening in the preceding texts that led to these passages?
3. How is Jesus’s personal departure (Mark 1) or encouragement to do so (Mark 6) a critical part of understanding how God cares for us? About how he prepares us?
4. How often do you get away from your work? When you get away, what is the goal (to prepare for more work, enjoy the rewards of your work, rest, spend time with family and friends)?
5. In what ways have you found yourself staying put where you are out of convenience instead of being compelled by God? How do people sometimes help you see God’s will? How do they sometimes blur your vision?
6. How can we encourage and pray for each other in this?
