1. The Church is UNIVERSAL
The early believers counted themselves as part of the ONE Universal Church.
The disciples were part of the ONE Universal Church that Jesus said He would build. Here are some Statements and Scriptures to support this understanding:
A. They were ADDED to the Church
B. Christ was the HEAD of the Church
C. The WISDOM of God was known by the Church
D. The Church is the BODY of Christ
E. The Church is His HOUSE
F. Christ was in the MIDST of His Church
G. The Church is JOINED together in Jesus
2. The Church is LOCAL
This passage is applicable to the Church Local and is one of the MAIN REASONS certain people want to be a part of the Universal Church and not part of the Church Local.
If there’s no Church Local, then according to Matthew 18:15-20, the SIN of the believer after the first two steps have been taken would need to be told to the worldwide Universal Church, but that’s not the CASE.
What MAKES UP a Church Local? When believers gather in true and spiritual harmony, of one accord, in one place, in the Name of Jesus. Then the Lord is in the midst of them.
A. The Church in the CITY
B. The Church at JERUSALEM
C. The Churches of JUDEA, Galilee and Samaria
D. The Church at CAESAREA
E. The Church at ANTIOCH
F. The Churches of the GENTILES
3. The Church and the CHURCHES
A. They did not create a DENOMINATIONAL Church of all Local Churches
B. They did not use Jerusalem or Rome as “the MOTHER Church”
C. They did not have COUNTRY Churches
D. They did not have REGIONAL Churches
E. They did not have NATIONAL Churches
F. They did not have a DISTRICT Church and bring all Churches under a District
A. They did have a spiritual UNITY in Christ
B. They did recognize each other’s sovereignty under Christ’s HEADSHIP
C. They did SHARE with each other and minister to each other when possible
D. They did receive MINISTRY from each other
E. They did recognize that the Revelation of Christ to ONE could be profitable for ALL Churches as we see in Rev 1, 2 & 3.
