Throughout this sermon series we are looking parts of God’s Word that involve the church. We’re talking about why we need the church, what the church is, what the purpose of church is, and common ways that the church gets off track. Today, we’re looking at a message that Jesus has for the church in Ephesus. He commends them for staying true doctrinally but implores them to return to their first love. By taking a look at this part of God’s Word, we learn how to avoid this same mistake.
We need to realize that we can be theologically sound, and yet far from Christ

Reflection Questions
1. Have you ever studied or hear this passage preached on before? What stood out to you?
2. Do some reflecting. What was your relationship with God like when you were first saved?
3. The Church in Ephesus was theologically sound, but their hearts weren’t towards God any longer (even though they started out with their hearts towards Him). Has there been a season in your life where you felt the same way, like your heart wasn’t towards God any longer? What was going on during that season of your life?
4. Rate your heart during this season of your life. How is your heart towards God? What can you do to strengthen your relationship with God?
5. How can you help other people to not make this same mistake that this church in Ephesus made? How can you encourage people to keep their hearts towards God?
6. What is your biggest take away from this message? What did God teach you? Do you feel led to put anything into action? If so, what, and what practical step(s) do you need to take to be obedient to what God has led you to do? Who can keep you accountable to accomplishing this?
