God My Strength - Cedric Holl

God My Strength - Cedric Holl

We all have a tendency to build our lives around our strengths – our achievements, education, knowledge, physical appearance, belongings. We forge our identity on the things that we are good at, bringing us self recognition and pride. But when things go wrong, as they inevitably do in life, it feels like our whole world is shattered, and it’s in those moments where our faith gets tested. It's easy to praise God when all is good and life is going well. But we need to learn to praise God in the good and bad, rain and shine, joy and pain. We don’t know what tomorrow looks like, but we happen to serve a God who does. Let God be your strength all the time.

1. Hard Times

Hardship is not the journey; it's only one step of the journey to build the Kingdom of God.
2. The Mission

Our mission is not to build our personal kingdoms, but to build the Kingdom of God.

Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
3. Community

We are not walking alone but have been called to this mission together. We need to encourage one another.

Hebrews 3:12-14 (NIV)
See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
