Genesis 3:1

FCC Statement of Faith: We believe the whole Bible is the Word of God, without error, and the only unfailing rule for proper living in every area of life, personal and public.”
8 Evidences of the Reliability of the Bible:
1) Fulfilled Prophecy: There are over 300 prophecies in the Old Testament that were accurately fulfilled by Jesus. It is so astonishing that critics in the 19th and early 20th centuries claimed that scribes and Bible translators must have gone back and added those prophecies to the OT to claim that Jesus had fulfilled them. This was thoroughly debunked in 1956 when the Dead Sea Scrolls were finally excavated from the Qumran caves in the Judean desert and they contained all of the books of the OT (with the exception of the book of Esther) and these same critics were shocked to find that the OT that we have today were identical to the books they found in the caves.
2) The Unity of the scriptures: Muslims will often point to the Quran and say look at the unity of the Quran. But the Quran was written by one man (Zaid bin Thabit the scribe for Mohammed) over a period of about 20 years, that’s not particularly impressive but the Bible was written by over 40 authors over a period of 1,500 years and has total internal consistency and speaks accurately about everything it addresses.
3) The Bible is honest: The Bible is not a hero’s epic that paints the good guys as virtuous and valorous, but it is honest about the failings, sins, and shortcomings of its heroes. Abraham’s cowardice, Moses’ violence, Jacob’s lies, David’s lusts, Peter’s unbelief, and so on.
4) Archeological Evidence: The Bible makes claims about historical places, historical events, scientific truths that have been long forgotten, covered over by centuries of time, unknowable to the early authors and then later revealed by archeologists, historians, and scientists.
5) Eyewitness Accounts: The Bible gives eyewitness accounts of supernatural events.

2 Peter 1:16-21

6) The Preservation of Scripture: Throughout the intervening 2,000 years since the close of the canon, when the last words of the Bible were written, we have reliable trust that what you have in your hands is the authoritative word of God. It is not a copy of a copy of a copy that has been changed by people over the millennia. That is not how we have gotten this book. We have more reliable manuscript evidence for the Bible than we do for any other book from antiquity.

1 Peter 1:24-25

7) The Self-Attestation of the Bible: The Bible claims that its writings are the Word of God. Jesus quoted and affirmed the truth of the Old Testament. NT writers knew that they were writing scripture and Peter confirms that Paul’s letters are scripture.
8) The Internal Witness of the Holy Spirit: “The Holy Spirit bears witness to the Scriptures, assuring believers of the truthfulness of God’s written Word.” Chicago Statement on inerrancy. The Holy Spirit confirms the truth of scripture in believers. God uses the Bible to feed and nourish our souls.
