Worship Gathering - Second Chances
Focus this Sunday:
This Sunday, as we start the New Year, we will spend some time grounding ourselves in the firmest footing for the future: the grace of God that brings salvation to everyone and gives us the ability to grow in faith and holiness. What does God have to say to you in this?
This is also Communion Sunday. If you are participating from home, make sure to have your elements ready at the close of the sermon.
Join us Sunday at 10:30am either onsite or online! The link to the online service is on our website at (www.emmettnaz.org) and click on the Link to the Service.
Reflection Questions: (Privately or invite a few friends to discuss!)
1. What is one thing that stood out to you from this week’s message?
2. What do you think about first when you hear the word “grace” in the Christian context?
3. Max Lucado said, “Grace is the voice that calls us to change, and then gives us the power to pull it off. … When grace happens, we receive not a nice compliment from God but a new heart” (“Grace: More than We Deserve, Greater than We Imagine: An Interview with Max Lucado,” Christian Bible Studies, May 7, 2013, https://www.christianitytoday.com/biblestudies/articles/spiritualformation/grace-more-than-we-deserve-greater-than-we-imagine.html).” When you think about grace, or growing in the grace of God, what is your motivation? Is it to get a pat on the back and a “job well done,” or are you seeking to have your heart made new by God?
4. How can Scripture, prayer, and the sacraments/ordinances help us to grow in holiness?
5. Can we ever have too much grace or too much of the “means of grace”? Why or why not?
6. How can we encourage and pray for each other in this?
