INTRO: Gods Promises in the Midst of Darkness

* The Promise of a Glorious Light
The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined. Vs 2

* The Promise of a Glorious Joy.
You have multiplied the nation And increased its joy; They rejoice before You According to the joy of harvest, As men rejoice when they divide the spoil. Vs 4

* The Promise of Glorious Liberty!
For You have broken the yoke of his burden And the staff of his shoulder, The rod of his oppressor, As in the day of Midian. Vs 5

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. Vs 6-7

WORD POWER: Mighty (gibbor) which is defined as “strength, power, hero, warrior.”

ANALYSIS: The Implications of THE MIGHTY GOD!

1. Because He is Mighty, Nothing is Impossible for Him. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. 36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.” LUKE 1:31-37

2. Because He is Mighty, Nothing nor no one can Overtake Him.
Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.8 Who is this King of glory?The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. Psalm 24:7-8

3. Because He’s Mighty, Our life is Saved in and through Him.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being [a]a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:18-21

APPLICATION: Honoring Jesus, the Mighty God!

Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him. Psalm 2:11-12

Walk in Wisdom towards Him.

Work as unto Him.

Worship in submission of Him.
