When Dreams Come True:
1. Humbly recognize that promotion is from God
"Not every man can carry a full cup. Sudden elevation frequently leads to pride and a fall. The most exacting test of all to survive is prosperity." - Oswald Sanders
2. Let go of the past so you can heal
Manasseh: Forgetfulness - "God has made me forget all my hardship and my whole family."
Ephraim: Fruitfulness - "God had made me fruitful in the land of my affliction."
3. Remember God does not bless us just for us
We are blessed to be a blessing

Dig Deeper:
1. Have you had a dream come true in your life? If so, what was it? How did it feel to have it come true?
2. Have you ever met someone who had so much in life, in terms of possessions, and had great responsibility but was miserable and unfulfilled?
3. Why is it easy to forget that God is the provider of all things, including promotion and prosperity?
4. Have you ever been put in a position of power? How did you handle it? Have you ever had someone in a position of power not use their authority for the good of others? What happened?
5. Read Genesis 41:40-44 and Matthew 28:18. What similarities do you see between Joseph’s authority and the authority of Jesus Christ?
6. Why did God allow Joseph’s life to be filled with adversity only to eventually bless him during this time in his life? Why did he have to go through such a hard time?
7. Describe some opportunities Joseph had for character development throughout the difficult times in his life.
8. It had been about thirteen years since Joseph was sold into slavery. What quality in Joseph’s life stands out most in this story? Why?
9. How do you think you would handle what Joseph went through? Do you think he ever had low moments when dealing with the pain in his life?
10. How does Joseph’s faithfulness encourage you in your struggles?
11. If we see God moving during times of trials, and we know that He is developing us, then why do we try so hard to avoid them? What might be a better approach?
12. Read Genesis 41:50-52. What was the significance of giving his sons the names he chose for them?
13. Do you think Joseph’s life experiences prepared him to be a father? If so, why?
14. Describe a time when God has prepared you in advance for something significant that happened in your life.
15. Joseph had incredible responsibility in his role under Pharaoh. Based on his previous encounters, how do you think he handled the pressure and weight of his role?
16. Read Genesis 41:55-57. How does this scripture passage reflect and relate to our mission at The Bridge Church to help people find and follow Jesus, here and around the world?

Live It Out:

God blesses us so that we can be a blessing. Spend time in reflection this week so that you may be able to focus on being a blessing to others.

1. Humbly recognize that promotion and prosperity are from God. Joseph continuously remained humble and grounded. How did he do this? He knew that God is the provider of his gifts, his talents, and his resources. Joseph gave all the glory to God. If you are not currently remaining humble, spend time thanking God for all he has provided to you and for you. Begin this week by walking in a spirit of humility and thanking God for all he provides.
2. Let go of the past so that you can heal. Joseph had an incredible amount of pain. He chose to heal and not dwell on his past. Is there a hurt from your past that you need to give to God so that you can find healing? If so, focus on the blessings God has provided to you and pray to Him to be released from the burden of the hurt.
3. Remember God does not bless us just for us. Do you use what God has provided to you to be a blessing to others? Explore how you can bless others through your gifts, talents, and resources. Humbly ask God to lead you in being a blessing to others.
