Luke 1:26-38

Sermon Notes

WE NEED CHRISTMAS

WE NEED THE KING

NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD

I do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, her heirs, and successors, according to law. So, help me God. (1868 Oaths Act)

HOW DID HEROD RESPOND TO THE KING?

“Go and search carefully for the Child; and when you have found Him, report to me, so that I too may come and worship Him.” (Mt 2:8)

HOW DID THE MAGI RESPOND TO THE KING?

“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?” (Mt 2:2)

HOW DID SIMEON RESPOND TO THE KING?

Luke 2:25-32
25 And there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon; and this man was righteous and devout, looking forward to the consolation of Israel; and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to carry out for Him the custom of the Law, 28 then he took Him in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 “Now, Lord, You are letting Your bond-servant depart in peace,
According to Your word;
30 For my eyes have seen Your salvation,
31 Which You have prepared in the presence of all the peoples:
32 A light for revelation for the Gentiles,
And the glory of Your people Israel.”

How will you respond to the King this morning?

Ololabwak, Kenya, Women’s Health Clinic

CityRise and the One Heart Women's Ministry are partnering to build a clinic in the remote mountain village of Ololabwak, Kenya. This community is two hours on foot from the nearest medical facility, and there are hundreds of women beyond the village who travel much further to receive medical care, making prenatal and maternity care very challenging. Please help us stock the clinic! Visit cityrise.org/women for a link to an Amazon donation page to help create a stock of items while the clinic is being constructed. (Estimated completion date for the clinic will be March 2023)
