Luke 39:1-55
To receive the gift of Christmas as God has intended, what kind of faith do we need to have?
Conditional Faith: If we are talented, gifted, diligent, etc., God will bless us / help us.
Mary demonstrates humble faith
Humble Faith - Sees God’s blessings come from his love and mercy, not from anything we’ve earned.
Humble Faith - The privilege is partnership & relationship with God.
Humble Faith – I can be ordinary because he is Extraordinary.
Pride / Arrogance – Always puts ME at the center.
God’s loving and jealous response is to oppose our efforts of pursuing anything but him.
Humble Faith – embraces who I am (faults and all) because God’s grace is the real source of power.
Do we want our life to be about what WE can accomplish, or what HE can accomplish?
Humble Faith – Rejoices in the greatness of God and wants Him to be the hero in the story.
