Isaiah 11 may be the most complete description of God’s intentions for peace. For in it we have the final vision of reality along with a description of how it will come about and by whom. Paying careful attention to this passage written in the days of Israel's great distress as Babylon was closing in may just help show us hope for today as well.

What does the peaceable kingdom look like?
1. All of creation impacted.
2. Security for all of the vulnerable.
3. Alignment in what sustains life.

How does it come about?
1. The Spirit of the Lord brings it about by a process unfolding from
A. Delighting in the fear of the Lord - an acknowledgment that God is God and we are not.
B. Knowledge of God’s ways.
C. Strength to persevere.
D. Counsel for day to day guidance.
E. Understanding to see how it all fits together.
F. Wisdom which is the ability to know God’s will and the ability to do it.

Who brings it about? The unexpected!
A child.
A virgin giving birth.
A flower from a dead stump.
Anyone willing to allow God to use what seems to be useless, dead, failed in their lives.

How to be available?
Willing to be healed.
Willing to be misunderstood.
Willing to be rejected.
