“I Will Trust You Lord” - Hutt Hutson

Trust is a two-way street. A healthy relationship isn’t one-sided. It’s not just that you are this really trustworthy person and your friends can all trust you and count on you. It’s that you can also trust them. For many, this is where it all falls apart. I want you to trust me, but I am not sure I want to trust you. You see, for me to trust you would mean that I would have to give up some control. If I give up control, I am putting the outcome in someone else’s hands. This is not something that many of us like to do. As long as we have control we can get our way, at least in theory. In reality, we have hardly any control. Try as we may to keep our grip tightened around every detail, willing things toward our desired outcomes, we just can’t do it. There are just way too many things beyond our control, leaving us grasping for things that we will never be able to hold on to. We have got to let go of control and learn to trust.
