When it appears that God is silent, we must trust that He is still at work.
The first candle of Advent is called the HOPE candle.
Hope is a secure assurance, a trust placed in a trustworthy God.
Romans 5:3-4
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.

Suffering + Endurance + Character = Hope
The second Advent candle is the PEACE candle.
The peace of God is a choice, and is only found in the pause.
Philippians 4:6-7

The message of Christmas is that Jesus is peace.

The third candle of Advent is the JOY candle.

Happiness is because of, but joy is in spite of.

The fourth candle of Advent is the LOVE candle.
The central message of Christmas is God’s love for sinners.
