Jesus describes four hearts in this scripture: the hardened heart, the shallow heart, the crowded heart, and the open heart. God’s word is the seed; the same seed can produce no fruit or much fruit depending on the soil of our hearts.
The condition of our hearts determines the size of our harvest. If you are not happy with the fruit of your life, then change your heart. Our growth, maturity, and fruitfulness all stem from our response to God’s word.
We change our hearts by changing our response to God’s word. His word is spirit and life. If we receive the word, we receive spirit and life; if we reject His word, we receive death.
We believe In the priesthood of all believers. There are no second class citizens. We are all equal but not the same. Every believer has full and complete access to the Father. Each person is complete in Christ with unique gifts and callings.
So, how do we know when we have received the word?
We know we have believed/received the word when we obey it. Faith without works is dead; the fruit of faith is obedience. One of the greatest deceptions in the church is self- deception; we know the word of God, but we don’t obey it.
