Going Deeper is designed for use with your small group, a friend or on you own. Its aim is to create time for you to spend with God and his word. Do as much or as little as you like. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact one of our pastoral staff.

2. The sermon this Sunday was the first on a series in Philippians – Unlocking the Good Life. The message was entitled A Key to Joyful Relationships. Richard asked: “Do you enjoy the people around you?” Consider your family, friends and acquaintances; now focus on their “good” attributes. Share some of those good or positive things that you treasure about those people.

3. One of the songs we sang on Sunday included the line “Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God”Thinking of your relationships, what is it in those relationships that gives you the greatest joy?

4. Richard quoted: “If they’re not in my heart, they’re on my nerves.” What do you think about that observation? What can you do to move their residence from your nerves to your heart?

5. Read Philippians 1:1-11. Paul wrote these verses after living through more than thirty years of ministry when he suffered all kinds of physical and emotional hardship. How do you think he was able to write such a positive and encouraging letter?

6. Take a moment of silence as you consider how God is speaking to you. Do you sense God inviting you to bring greater joy into all your relationships? What concrete steps can you take in response? How can your group support you in these steps?
