Introduction
And while some were talking about the temple, that it was decorated with beautiful stones and vowed gifts, He said, 6 “As for these things which you are observing, the days will come when there will not be left one stone upon another, which will not be torn down.”

7 They asked Him questions, saying, “Teacher, when therefore will these things happen? And what will be the sign when these things are about to take place?” 8 And He said, “See to it that you are not misled; for many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not go after them. 9 And when you hear of wars and revolts, do not be alarmed; for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately.”

10 Then He continued by saying to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, 11 and there will be massive earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrible sights and great signs from heaven.

12 “But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, turning you over to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors on account of My name. 13 It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony. 14 So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; 15 for I will provide you eloquence and wisdom which none of your adversaries will be able to oppose or refute. 16 But you will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, other relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death, 17 and you will be hated by all people because of My name. 18 And yet not a hair of your head will perish. 19 By your endurance you will gain your lives.
So What?!
Make your commitment to Jesus:

#1. A person not a place.
“…not be left one stone upon another, which will not be torn down.”
#2. Foundational not fragile.
8 And He said, “See to it that you are not misled;”
#3. Bible centered not human centered.
“…many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not go after them.
#4. Multi-disciplinary not closed interpretation.
“…for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately.”
“Of that day or hour no one knows.” Matthew 24:36
#5. Your best opportunities not your worst tragedies.
15 “for I will provide you eloquence and wisdom which none of your adversaries will be able to oppose or refute.”
19 “By your endurance you will gain your lives.”

Prayer Requests:

Group Discussion: What was it like for you when you took speech in School?
Read out loud: Luke 21:5-19,
Make your commitment to Jesus:
#1. A person not a place. “…not be left one stone upon another, which will not be torn down.” Paul says, “Pray without ceasing,” so do you, “Practice the presence of God,” and talk to Jesus all day long? Do you feel closer to God when you’re in church, if so, why do you think that is? Is there a habit you could build to help you sense the presence of Jesus as you go through the other 6 days of life?
#2. Foundational not fragile. 8 And He said, “See to it that you are not misled;” We make commitments all through our lives, in classes and sports when we’re in school, in jobs and careers, we make vows in marriage, we sign contracts when we buy cars and houses. When we accept Jesus we make a commitment for eternal life, do you ever go back and renew your commitment to Jesus? Is there a time when you recommitted your life and what did that look like. Maybe it was a time you felt you got serious with Him.
#3. Bible centered not human centered. “…many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not go after them. Just because human beings say something is okay we need to ask ourselves what does God’s word say about this issue, what issues in life do you think God’s Word most influences you in a positive way?
#4. Multi-disciplinary not closed interpretation. “…for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately.” “Of that day or hour no one knows.” Matthew 24:36. Are you an open person willing to listen to other opinions or do you tend to listen to one person and accept it as fact? How do you discern between a legitimate different opinion and a false teacher?
#5. Your best opportunities not your worst tragedies. 15” for I will provide you eloquence and wisdom which none of your adversaries will be able to oppose or refute.” 19” By your endurance you will gain your lives.” What’s one life lesson you learned from hard times?
Family Time: Read Luke 21:13, “It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony.” Ask your kids to tell you their story/testimony. How did they become a Christ follower and how has Jesus shaped their life. You might help them with a key word from the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5; love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.
