Many Plot twists in life can be painful, difficult and discouraging.
God is still with you and loves you.
God is with you in the highs but also in the lows.
Going through difficulties in life can be very loving and kind.
Continue to trust God by giving Him credit and honor.
Remember bad things are going to happen to Godly people.
Remember we are not the main characters, God is.
Remember what God has already done.
The story isn’t finished.
Make a choice to be led by God’s Spirit daily.
When you feel like its over… But God…
Next Step: What truth can you hold onto and apply this week to your past, present or future plot twist?
Life Group Sermon Questions:
Last Week
Were you able to change something to help you with temptation?
Opener
What is your typical reaction when things go all wrong, especially when you didn’t see it coming?
Questions
Tell about a situation where something bad happened, but everything turned out for the better? How long did it take you to gain that perspective?
Why do you think it can be so hard for us to remember that God is always with us? What happens when you do remember this truth?
Have you had a tough time where you thought “But God will turn this into something good?” or have you had a time when you reflected back on it and realized “But God used that to for good in my life?” How do things change when we remember that God is the main character of this story and not ourselves?
What practical steps can we do in our lives to put ourselves in a position to remember what God has done for us to prepare us for adversity?
Apply SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) to:
Psalm 40:11-13 (NIV)
Do not withhold your mercy from me, Lord; may your love and faithfulness always protect me. For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me. Be please to save me, Lord; come quickly, Lord, to help me.
- Read the verses out loud together
