Psalm 32 - Our second, third and fourth chance.

Psalm 32 - Our second, third and fourth chance.

Fittingly we look at the shape of grace on the weekend we celebrate one of the special members of our church who was a picture of grace for all of us.

During the camp we looked at Psalm 19 (grounding and God's playground), Psalm 23 (lacking nothing, company in the dark and the incredible future), and Psalm 27 (what you focus on).

Today we talk about the most beautiful word in the universe: Grace.

What words or ideas stand out to you in Psalm 32?

The kind of person who can recieve grace is the one who is not trying to pretend in any way.
This Psalm is a call to live in truth.
There is a profound pain in covering up your own darkness, which is why we are tempted to look for things to cover the pain and distract.
Grace is continually being offered... it just requires us to be honest.

When life feels overwhelming, reach for the God of the universe who is there with outstretched arms.
This is a beautiful picture of how God wants to do life with us.
In contrast to being guided by God's loving eye, others need to hit the reality of the external controls God has in a world built on moral foundations.

We are called to live from a place where we know we are loved.
The heart is the will. As you know you are loved and your will wants what God wants, the natural response is joy.
Small Group Questions:

1) Have someone read Psalm 32 and talk about what parts stand out to each person

2) Talk about a time when you were consciously trying to avoid facing the truth about something. What was it like?

3) Talk about a time when you owned up and confessed your sin (you don't have to talk about specifics). What was the experience of confession like?

4) What are some of the things that make it hard for you to know that God loves you? Take a moment to share the blocks you face and then let the group remind you that nothing will ever stop God loving you.

5) Have you experienced God's guidance? Talk about your experience.

Finish by praying that God would reveal his love to everyone in the group.
