This series has been a call to “Be A Switch.” Being a switch means we are a person through whom the love and life of God can flow.
We have learned:
God has chosen all of us to be the switch
We need to make a commitment to turn the switch on
We need to stay connected to our power source
Today we study the life of David and consider 5 temptations to turn the switch off.
1. Who knows - if my switch is ON?
After being anointed as he future king, David remained in obscurity.
Challenge to serve in obscurity
We believe in eternal rewards.
Crowns will be given to us in heaven.
2. Who cares - if my switch is ON?

Do I serve in order to receive praise or recognition?
David conquered a giant but following the victory Saul failed to honour him as he had promised.
David learned to live so that whatever he did or said, would be for the glory of God. He would not let a lack or recognition or honour cause him to turn the switch off.
Who is influenced - if my switch is ON?

In the big scheme of things, does my service make a difference?
The average person will influence 10,000 people in their life time. - Adam Scott
4. What guides me - if my switch is ON?
The temptation is to do things my way, take charge, be in control.
Acts of the Apostles 13:22 NLT

Living with my switch in the ON position requires that I trust God and follow his ways.
5. Who will benefit - if my switch is ON?

Research has found many examples of how doing good, in ways big or small, not only feels good but does us good and it benefits others.
