"Jesus - The Son, The Sacrifice" - Karl Jones

Intro: What would you do to save the life of someone you loved? For most of us, the answer is – Anything! We would do or give anything to save the ones we love.
Romans 5:6-10 – nothing more clearly declares God’s love for all of us than does Jesus – the Son of God and the ultimate sacrifice for our salvation. The Cross of Jesus:
•Powerfully declares the _____________ of ____.
•Powerfully demonstrates the ______ of ____ for every human.
•Fully ___________ _____ and ___________ with God.

I. The Son, The Sacrifice – The Plan of God
1.God’s great love for every human prompted Him to conceive a ______ _____ to redeem and save each of us, restoring spiritual life in us. (Acts 2:22-24)
2. God’s plan is amazingly _________.
A.) Jesus would take ____ _______ in bearing the punishment of sin. (1 Peter
2:23-25)
B.) For us to receive the benefits we simply must _________ in Jesus and be ______ with Christ. (Romans 6:3-5, Gal. 3:26-27)
C.) Why so simple? Because God wants All to be Saved!

II. The Son, The Sacrifice – The Joy of Christ. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
1. The joy of the Cross is the __________ it brings over sin and death.
A.) ___________ bring _____ and the greater the ________, the greater the _____!
2. The joy of a _______-________ _____________!
A.) In the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15), __________ could have brought more joy to the _______ of the _______ than his lost son coming home! Our heavenly Father feels the same joy when anyone turns back to Him!
B.) In Jesus and His Cross there is grace, mercy, and forgiveness. And wherever there is grace, mercy, and forgiveness, ____ ___________!
3. The joy of ______ ___________ freely given.
A.) No one is more rich than the one who lives in the _______ and ________ of God and with the hope of heaven! (Eph. 1:18-19)

III. The Son, the Sacrifice – The Power of God’s Holy Spirit in Us
1. When one is baptized into Christ, God gives the gift of His Holy Spirit to ________, __________, and ______ us.
2. In regard to sinful behavior, the world says, “Don’t fight it! Celebrate it and embrace it.” But for we who claim to follow the Son and His sacrifice for sin, we _________ excuse, embrace, or celebrate the very thing that put Jesus on the Cross – _____!
3. To live without the Son and His sacrifice is to live without ___________, ___________, or the _____ of eternal life. This is NOT how God wants anyone to live. . . or die!
