Revelation 8:1
When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. NIV

Zephaniah 1:7
Stand in silence in the presence of the Sovereign LORD, for the awesome day of the LORD’s judgment is near. NLT

Revelation 8:2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. NIV

Principalities, powers, rulers and dominions. (Colossians 1:16, 2:15, Ephesians 6:12)

Trumpets: The most significant/important instrument for Israel

Revelation 8:3
Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. NIV

How does God answer the prayers of His people?

Revelation 8:5
Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake. 6 Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them. NIV

Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur): Sin is judged and forgiven Final three trumpet judgments also called “Woe” judgements

Revelation 8:7
The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. NIV

Joel 2:30 I will cause wonders in the heavens and on the earth— blood and fire and columns of smoke. NLT

Revelation 8:8
The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, 9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed. NIV

Hosea 4:3
Because of this the land dries up, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea are swept away. NIV

Zephaniah 1:3
“I will sweep away both man and beast; I will sweep away the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea— and the idols that cause the wicked to stumble.” “When I destroy all mankind on the face of the earth,” declares the LORD. NIV

Revelation 8:10
The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water - 11 the name of the star is Wormwood. A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter. NIV

Wormwood : Bitter or poisonous

The star: Likely a demon sent by God

During the tribulation, God narrows the world’s focus down to the Middle East

Revelation 8:12
The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night. NIV

Luke 21:25
there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken. NLT

Revelation 8:13
As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!” NIV

Revelation 9:1
The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. NIV

2 Peter 2:4
For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment. NLT

Luke 8:31
The demons kept begging Jesus not to send them into the bottomless pit. NLT

Revelation 9:2
When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. 4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes. 6 During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. NIV

Revelation 9:6
During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. NIV

Description of demonic creatures (Revelation 9:7-11)

The judgements of God leaves the world in ruins with no power

Why does God bring punishment upon humanity?

What purpose does it serve?

God mercifully preventing death so people would repent and turn to Jesus as their Lord and Savior
