Welcome to Impact! / About us

Welcome to Impact Christian Church! We are honored to have you with us this Sunday morning as we celebrate Jesus.

Impact is a new church in Independence. With the focus of restoring hope in a hurting world, we are committed to being a family of everyday people doing what we can to honor God and serve each other.

We are a non-denominational, New Testament, Christian Church. What that simply means is that we are wide open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey. So whether you are a committed Christian or just starting to ask questions about this Jesus thing, we want you to know that you belong here! You can be you. We don’t have to agree on every religious or political idea in order to be a part of what Jesus is doing in our midst. In fact, when we come together around Jesus in spite of our differences, we get to experience a beautiful picture of the way God designed the Church.

We invite you to make an Impact with us!

H.E.I.R.S.
When you follow Jesus, you join God's family and become HEIRS to his kingdom as evidenced by your:
Humble adoration
Eternal focus
Intentional discipleship
Restoring community
Sacrificial service
Eats with Sinners - Week 3 - Pastor Nick Grim

Last week we continued our series: Eats with sinners

With the mindset that: We don’t go to church we are the church

We ended last week with this statement: People need to feel welcomed with grace

This week we dive deeper into the book of Luke as we look at it through the lens of eating with sinners.

Before we dive to far into our message hear this:
God has a message for you not the person that is not here.
2. Let God speak to you not me.
3. If God asks you to live differently today do something about it. Remember that little changes are what creates growth in Jesus

Faith only grows with intimacy in Jesus

Have you ever had to trust someone or something with your life?

What does putting faith in Jesus look like?

Luke 5:1-11 On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.

—The story doesn’t even talk about what Jesus said, it illustrates the faith of Peter.

Faith requires obedient action

Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation.

—So when you read Hebrews 11 it wasn’t just they heard good news and they thought I should maybe do that they heard what God said and they followed:

—Able tithed and it wasn’t like by Cain but he still did it
Noah built and Ark and there may have not even been rain yet
Abraham- He moved to a land God promised with no map, GPS, or idea what would be over the next hill. He also went up a mountain to sacrifice his son Issac, he knew that the promise of the world was coming through him and yet he thought somehow God is going to raise him from the dead. Moses, parted the read sea, threatened Pharaoh with the plagues up until death. Rehab protected spies and if caught it would mean her death. Sampson asked for superhuman strength after his eyes had been plucked out and he lost his strength so that he could take out Philistines one last time and it happened!

Faith isn’t just believing

Faith isn’t just doing the right thing

Faith isn’t just taking a gamble

Faith is knowing that Jesus is providing the next step

How do you know?
—You will be at Peace Peace

Would our actions be exemplifying our faith?

I don’t know I don’t hear things from God

I think often we aren’t listening to God we are just talking

Luke 5:12-16 While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy. And when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him. And he charged him to tell no one, but “go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” But now even more the report about him went abroad, and great crowds gathered to hear him and to be healed of their infirmities. But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.

We listen to ourselves

We listen to the crowds

We don’t go and listen from God

Jesus wanted nothing more than time to hear from our Father

If we aren’t taking time to hear from God how will we know we are walking in faith?

Big 3:

What has been a hindrance in you having faith in God?

What is something that you can do to put more faith in God?

What is something God has asked you to do to step out in faith or intimacy?
