Vision Check-Up wk1 - Understanding our What
Vision checkups are important for all of us in our individual lives to make sure we’re seeing clearly and can chase after all that comes our way in life. They are also imperative as a church. To circle back and make sure we’re staying focused as a church with the clarity we need most - to not allow ourselves to get distracted or fuzzy on what we’re called to be about…

Thanks for joining us...
Whether you're on-site or online, we are praying that tonight will be an encouragement to your soul. May God whisper to you and help you in taking your next steps in a journey with Him. If you're new, we'd love to have you fill out our connection card.
https://connect-card.com/yr4Y0g8VLBSqzKXeubjbEvery church that adheres to the Scriptures and is following Jesus has the ‘gospel ice cream’ of Jesus' call — it’s the call from Jesus that you'll find in the Great Commission and Great Commandment that every church is to be about!
…The HOW they carry that out and the WHAT they engage in for seeing that through, might be their ‘flavor’, if you will. Might be slightly different in its experience and execution of that pursuit…in each church.

Our Mission is rallied around: 3 Key values: (our HOW / our WHAT - our flavor)
**these 3 values are going to help us pursue our vision - they will shape all we do!
We strive to be a church that will:
REACH people with Jesus
EQUIP people to know Jesus
SEND people out for Jesus

REACH
reach UP - (love God) & reach OUT - (love people)
Romans 12:1
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
John 13:34-35
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

The life of REACHING OUT isn’t about trying to convince people, convict people, or coerce people…. It’s a life, centered on LOVE and living out the love of Jesus for others to experience…
REACH OUT INTENTIONALLY…
*we want to challenge each of us going into 2023 to focus on what we’re going to call -- our 1:1:1 initiative
Each one — Reach one — Each year

EQUIP
YOU have giftings, abilities, passions and a purpose
We’re each UNIQUE, but we’re all called to UNITY under Christ.
= we’re Diverse & Different, but we’re to be unified and ALL becoming mature as the body of Christ
It begins with a simple call from Jesus back to the original disciples:
Matthew 4:18-20
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” At once they left their nets and followed him.
‘Follow me’
our Definition of discipleship:
“A disciple is someone who knows and follows Jesus, is becoming like Jesus, and is committed to the mission of Jesus.”
discipleship is about PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT - equipping people as apprentices / students of Jesus to mature in their faith...

Pursuing spiritual growth, development, and God’s sanctifying work within us, is meant to be a NORMAL thing, not an optional thing for a disciple of Jesus.
Spiritual depth matters in a superficial world.

— we can grow some on our own, but we’ll never grow to full maturity all alone! We’re made to need one another; you need me, I need you!

SEND
*The word is used often throughout the New Testament.
As a matter of fact, one of the very first words that came out of Jesus’ mouth after he was resurrected was SEND.
“As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” -John 20:21

Listen as the Apostle Paul describes a life living on mission… living as a Sent One...
2 Corinthians 5:14-5:20 (NLT)
Christ’s love controls (compels) us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. 15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them...19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
"Our job is to live as God’s ambassadors, building relationships with others."

God has put specific people in your life that he desires you to share His Good News with. You might be the only Christian some people ever see.
God will get his message of hope out. But HE WANTS to get it out through us!
Each follower of Jesus is to live sent as an ‘active agent’ for God and His good in this world.
