It’s often the things that no one sees that have the greatest impact on our future.
Everything built high first goes deep.
What you build your life on matters and you get to decide.
MY NEXT STEP TODAY IS:

I need to receive Jesus Christ as my personal Savior for the first time

I need to be baptized

I need to attend Starting Point
https://www.thebridgevenice.com/starting-point

I need to join a small group

I need to join a serve team

Dig Deeper:
1. Why do you think Jesus often taught in parables and used practical stories that have spiritual meaning?
2. Have you ever been involved in building a house or had your house built for you? Why is so important to have a solid foundation before the actual building begins?
3. Read Matthew 7:24-27. What is the only difference between the two houses?
4. What do we often emphasize, or put our focus on the most – the seen or the unseen? How can the hidden parts beneath the surface of something be more important than the things that are seen?
5. Describe a time in your life when something that wasn’t obvious or seen had a great impact on your life, either negative or positive.
6. Have you ever known someone who appears happy and successful but they lack integrity? Have you ever met someone who flies under the radar but has a deep depth of character? Discuss the differences between these two types of people
7. Why do we sometimes avoid looking down to the root of a problem? What might we do instead when a problem arises?
8. In what areas of our life is it easy for us to focus on the things of this world instead on a firm foundation? Why do you think that is?
9. Read Matthew 7:24. Why is it important not just to hear the words of Jesus but to also act on them?
10. What are some ways that we can act on Jesus’s words? How are we wise when doing so?
11. What happens when we do not act on Jesus’s words? How are we foolish when doing so?
12. Describe a time when you might not have had a firm foundation in an area of your life, but you didn’t realize it before the storm came? What effect did that have?
13. Describe a time when a storm hit you in your life and you did have a firm foundation. How did that get your through the storm?
14. No one can tell you what to build your life on, and building a foundation doesn’t happen by accident. You get to choose the foundation. Describe a time when you have used Jesus’s words and acted on them to create a firm foundation.
15. Describe what a firm foundation looks like in these areas: finances, work, family, friends.
16. How do we avoid having cracks in our foundation? What are some things that might have to be ripped out in order to relay a firm foundation?

Live It Out:
Are you putting the teachings of Jesus into practice? Here are ways to examine the foundation in your life:

1. Prayer: Thank God for being THE ultimate foundation in your life. Ask Him to reveal to you hidden sins or possible flaws in your foundation, knowing that His desire for your obedience is out of His great love for you.
2. Prioritize: When facing difficulty, do you rely on God’s word or something else? What do you go to first? Prioritize God’s word. The Bible is the supreme source of truth that can be applied to all areas of our life. Dig into His word to find the truth.
3. Put into action: Knowing that God’s word must be heard and also applied, determine areas of your life (finances, work, relationships) where you are putting His words into action. Then, determine areas of your life where you may need to refocus your foundation and act on God’s word. Begin taking steps to building a firm foundation by acting on God’s word in all areas of your life.
