Sermon on the Mount is the most important teaching in the Bible. For in it is Jesus’ most comprehensive teaching to his disciples given for the benefit of all of us. Jesus, the most gifted teacher, the most profound preacher, the greatest of all communicators offers us a detailed account of what it means to be his apprentice. In it we find the “how-to” of being people of the kingdom of heaven.
We “begin with the end in mind” of the sermon and we hear not consolation, not encouragement but words of warning…four of them actually:
1) Narrow road vs. Broad path
2) True prophets vs. False prophets
3) Those who Jesus knows vs. those who think they know Jesus
4)
Hearers vs. Hearers and Doers
Certainly the Scriptures teach - as I have insisted - that there is no knowledge of God apart from the doing of God's will.

They who attempt to escape obedience withdraw from grace.
