Ezra-Nehemiah a book about promises being fulfilled:
11 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. 12 Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. 13 When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart, 14 I will let you find me, says the LORD, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.- Jeremiah 29:11–14 (NRSV)
Ezra 7:10 shows us how to go about discipleship:
1. Set your heart
But the heart, as evil as it may be, is not a location but a disposition. It may produce evils which defile the man, but it can also love God and neighbor and thereby please God. This concept of heart as the reigning center of personality must not be forgotten when the problem of sin is discussed—as well as the matters of holiness and perfection and cleansing and all the other facets of theology and practice. - A Theology of Love by Mildred Bangs Wynkoop
2. Study
3. Put into practice
James 1:22 - Be doers and not merely hearers who deceiver themselves.
4. Teach others
Discipleship at its fullest expression is one person helping another along the discipleship path.
