When Jesus says He is the Savior, it implies two things: first, that you need saving, and second, that He is the only One to do it. Both of those implications are a direct attack on our pride.
Jesus' proclamations have implications that assault our pride.
Outline:
1) Jesus confronts our spiritual pride (vv. 14-21).
2) Jesus confronts our moral and intellectual pride (vv. 22-24).
3) Jesus confronts the pride in our group identity (vv. 25-30).

Preaching is Spirit-filled, scripture-based, and Christ exalting.
In order to receive the message of Jesus, we must acknowledge who He is and who we are. He is the Savior, and we are the poor, captive, blind, and oppressed.

“Jesus is the end of ethnocentrism. Or to put it more positively: Jesus is saying that with His coming a radically new way of defining the people of God is here, namely, faith in Him.”
~John Piper

When you deify your identity group, you will demonize the other groups.
Sadly, many people believe “those people” need salvation but don't deserve it, and “we” deserve salvation, but don’t need it.
Jesus' proclamations have implications that assault our pride.
