Journey Groups
Several new Journey Groups are launching the week of Labor Day. We’ll be offering Bible studies (Genesis, Esther, The Minor Prophets, Matthew, 1 Peter), life-phase groups (emerging adults, parents of kids and teens, 55+) as well as a group for men, groups for women and a group for new believers and those exploring faith. Various days and times will be offered. Several groups are being offered on Wednesday nights between September 7 and November 16 concurrent with our regular programming for kids and middle school students (we’re adding a nursery as well!). Each Wednesday we will also be offering dinner for any and all who would like to come (donations accepted). Wherever you are on the journey, we have a group for you! Check out the info in the lobby or on our website.
Wednesday Night Dinners
Starting September 7 | 5:30-6:15pm | We will be offering dinners before Wednesday Night Journey Groups. The suggested donation for an individual is $4 or feed the whole family for no more than $20. Great food, great fellowship, and a great deal! As these are untested waters, we ask, that for the first week, you could let us know if you and/or your family will be joining us for dinner. Register at https://bit.ly/3Axz4Qy.
Pregnancy Resource Center
If you would like to donate to the Pregnancy Resource Center, we have baby bottles to fill with change available at the welcome center. Please return them to the church by September 1.
Student Ministries Fundraiser
Our Student Ministries are continuing on their fundraising journey to get to NYC (Nazarene Youth Conference.) One ongoing fundraiser they are having is willing labor. They are available to help/do all sorts of projects. They would love to mow, pull weeds, water flowers, rake pinecones, shovel driveways, clean cupboards, cart sticks. Really anything that you would trust a teenager to do. Clean gutters, set up your new printer, learn how to use Instagram. Details are coming with a form to fill out to request labor. Students will always come in groups of at least two and will be accompanied by an adult sponsor and money will be a donation for the NYC trip or student accounts. If you have any questions, contact Melody Grimm at 815.549.9738.

There's Nothing That Our God Can't Do
Verse 1
Just one word
You calm the storm that surrounds me
Just one word
The darkness has to retreat
Just one touch
I feel the presence of heaven
Just one touch
My eyes were opened to see
My heart can't help but believe
Chorus 1
There's nothing that our God can't do
There's not a mountain that He can't move
Oh praise the name that makes a way
There's nothing that our God can't do
Verse 2
Just one word
You heal what's broken inside me
Just one word
And you revive ev'ry dream
Just one touch
I feel the power of heaven
Just one touch
My eyes were opened to see
My heart can't help but believe
Chorus 2
There's nothing that our God can't do
There's not a mountain that He can't move
Oh praise the name that makes a way
There's nothing that our God can't do
There's nothing that our God can't do
There's not a prison wall He can't break through
Oh praise the name that makes a way
There's nothing that our God can't do
Bridge
I will believe for greater things
There's no power like the power of Jesus
Let faith arise let all agree
There’s no power like the power of Jesus
Bridge
I will believe for greater things
There's no power like the power of Jesus
Let faith arise let all agree
There's no power like His power
Ending
Oh sing oh oh oh
There's nothing there's nothing
There's nothing there's nothing
Oh oh oh
(There's nothing that our God can't do)

Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Chorus
Great is Thy faithfulness
Great is Thy faithfulness
Morning by morning
New mercies I see
All I have needed
Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness
Lord unto me
Verse 1
Great is Thy faithfulness
O God my Father
There is no shadow
Of turning with Thee
Thou changest not
Thy compassions they fail not
As Thou hast been
Thou forever wilt be
Verse 2
Summer and winter
And springtime and harvest
Sun moon and stars
In their courses above
Join with all nature
In manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness
Mercy and love
Verse 3
Pardon for sin
And a peace that endureth
Thy own dear presence
To cheer and to guide
Strength for today
And bright hope for tomorrow
Blessings all mine
With ten thousand beside

Lord I Need You
Verse 1
Lord I come I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
And without You I fall apart
You're the one that guides my heart
Chorus 1
Lord I need You oh I need You
Ev'ry hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You
Verse 2
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
Where You are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
Bridge
So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus You're my hope and stay
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus You're my hope and stay
Chorus 2
Lord I need You oh I need You
Ev'ry hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You

It Is Well
Verse 1
Grander earth has quaked before
Moved by the sound of His voice
Seas that are shaken and stirred
Can be calmed and broken for my regard
Chorus
Through it all through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all through it all
It is well
Through it all through it all
My eyes are on You
And it is well with me
Verse 2
Far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can't see
And this mountain that's in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea
Bridge
So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name
Ending
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well it is well with my soul

Sermon Notes
Forward Thinking: When Life Hurts
Genesis 16:1-13, 21:10-20
August 21, 2022
Genesis 16:1-2
Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children.”
Genesis 16:2
“Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said.
Genesis 16:3-4
So after Abram had been living in Canaan ten years, Sarai his wife took her Egyptian slave Hagar and gave her to her husband to be his wife. He slept with Hagar, and she conceived.
Genesis 16:4-5
When she knew she was pregnant, she began to despise her mistress. Then Sarai said to Abram, “You are responsible for the wrong I am suffering. I put my slave in your arms, and now that she knows she is pregnant, she despises me. May the Lord judge between you and me.”
Genesis 16:6
“Your slave is in your hands,” Abram said. “Do with her whatever you think best.”
Genesis 16:6
Then Sarai mistreated Hagar; so she fled from her.
Genesis 16:7-8
The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?”
“I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered.
“Where have you come from, and where are you going?”
Genesis 16:9
Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.”
“Have I tried my best with God’s help to work this out?”
“Am I responding to God, or am I responding to my pain?”
Genesis 16:10-12
The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.” The angel of the Lord also said to her: “You are now pregnant and you will give birth to a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard of your misery. He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.”
Genesis 16:11
“…the Lord has heard of your misery.”
Genesis 16:13
She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”
Genesis 16:13
“I have now seen the One who sees me.”
Genesis 21:19
Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.
Whatever your past has been, will you let God open your eyes and give you a new perspective?
