NAKED & AFRAID: Wk.1 - "It Was Very Good... For Awhile"
Sin is not a popular topic in the world around us. The world has rebranded sin to conform with the rebelliousness of a fallen world. As Christians, how do we deal with sin in a world that has redefined it? God’s Word is our only authority regarding the definition of sin. How do we live that truth out in our daily lives? It all started in the Garden of Eden, but we still deal with the effects today.

A. Recap of Days 1-6 and Important Theological Foundations
Day 1 - Let there be light - it was good
*it illuminated the darkness that permeated the earth
*the Holy Spirit “moved upon the waters” and present
Day 2 - Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water - it was good
*called sky
Day 3 - Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place and let dry ground appear - it was good
*distinction between land and sea
*the land produced vegetation: seed bearing plants and trees
Day 4 - Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth - it was good
*sun, moon, and stars
Day 5 - Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky - it was good
*God blesses them and instructs them to be fruitful and multiply
*Animals in sky and sea first
Day 6 - Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind - it was good

Take Away: We are made as a representation of a triune God able to express the character of God. One of those characteristics is love and we are called to love with the compassion of our triune Creator.
B. It's All Very Good
Take Away: God has blessed us and given us all that we need to sustain us physically and spiritually. When considered altogether, it is “very good”.
C. Creation Revisted
Take Away: God has set apart the Sabbath as a day of rest and a day of holiness. It is to be a day of celebration of what God has done and a day to celebrate who He is. This is modeled to us by God in Genesis 2.
D. The Garden
Take Away: The essence of sin is the desire to have something that we are not meant to have according to God’s standard of holiness. The soulish nature craves that which has a “not” attached to it. We can only overcome this by living from the Spirit.
