North Platte Berean Church
Faith Foundation
Christianity has a long history of being misunderstood, even by Christians! It's all too easy to make it about Jesus PLUS something (good works, moral living, religious activities, emotional experience…). But the book of Hebrews claims that when we add anything to Jesus, we're actually subtracting. It holds up Jesus Christ – fully God, fully human – as the promised Deliverer. He is the One who, alone, saves us from our sinfulness and restores our relationships with God, others, and creation. Its message, the message of Christianity, is really quite simple: Jesus Christ is enough!

Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart
In Stop Asking Jesus Into Your Heart, J. D. shows that faulty ways of presenting the gospel are a leading source of the confusion. Our presentations may not be heretical, but they are sometimes misleading. The idea of “asking Jesus into your heart” or “giving your life to Jesus” often gives false assurance to those who are not saved—and keeps those who genuinely are saved from fully embracing that reality.

Next Week's Sermon
How many times has life left us disappointed? How many expectations have been unmet? How many dreams have been shattered? How many relationships have become strained or even lost? Hoping for our best life now is like trying to build our dream home in a war zone. Are we experiencing our best laid hopes and dreams being dashed in a way that leaves us frustrated and losing hope? Or are we living well today so that our faith in practice shows we believe that our best life is yet to come? Our Best Life Then!
