The Feast of the Tabernacles = a joyful and important celebration of the provision of God for His people

On the final day, a water ritual took place that ended with the crowd breaking into a song, based on the following verses.

Isaiah 12:3 (ESV)
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

Psalm 114:7-8
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob, 8 who turns the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a spring of water.

John 7:37-38
On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

Jesus was the ultimate fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles.

Jesus is the rock and the water.

Humans are born thirsty, both physically and spiritually.

Jesus is the only source that can quench our spiritual thirst.

Jesus is: knowledge to the thirsty mind, love to the thirsty heart, peace to the thirsty conscience, and holiness to the thirsty spirit

We must come and drink.

We drink by believing.

The result of drinking fully, inwardly, is overflowing, outwardly.

2 Corinthians 5:18-20
All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
