II. THE LIE James 5:13-16
The enemy not only wants to weasel his way to our table but he wants to push us away from our table.
A. You are all alone
B. God tells us the truth
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Cor. 10:13 NIV
C. Conviction vs. Condemnation
—1. Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit
Born out of grace
—2. Condemnation comes from the enemy
Born out of guilt
—3. Condemnation leads us to conceal our sin
—4. Conviction leads us to confess our sin & leads us to
Repentance
—5. Condemnation leads us to rededication
Vowing never to commit sin again
—6. Conviction leads us to absolute & total surrender
—7. Condemnation leads us to a future that isn’t going to get us where God wants us to be
—8. Conviction is the doorway that leads to real change in our
lives
—9. Conviction comes from the Spirit of God out of His grace
—10. Condemnation comes from a spirit of guilt that has been cancelled in Jesus Christ
