Multiply Christian Church is a ministry of Westerville Christian Church.
The Bible refers to the “heart” not as an organ, but humanity’s inner-person. The “heart” represents who someone truly is and the Bible warns believers to protect the heart/inner-person at all costs. Join us at Multiply Christian Church every Sunday in July, as we learn practical lessons on how to guard what matters most: our hearts.

Today: A Humble Heart
“In the eyes of Christ a person confessing sin is nearer to true goodness than a person boasting of his goodness.” - F.F. Bruce
A self-promoting heart focuses on self and views others negatively.
Matthew 7:1-5 (NASB) 1 “Do not judge so that you will not be judged. 2 For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

Luke 18:10 (NASB) 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

Psalm 32:1-2 (NIV) 1 Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 2 Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
A self promoting heart focuses on image and works.
Isaiah 64:6 (NIV) 6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

Proverbs 20:9 (NIV) 9 Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”?

James 4:6 (NIV) 6 “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
A humble heart focuses on the need for God.
James 4:6 (NASB) 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

James 4:10 (NIV) 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Isaiah 57:15 (NIV) “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit,to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.
In a world of self-promotion, it is clear that God promotes a humble heart.

How to keep your heart humble:

1. Admit you need God; He is your only true source of hope. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
2. Focus on others more than yourself (Philippians 2:3)
3. Recognize that everything you have comes from God (James 1:17)
4. Serve others (Mark 10:23)

Give

Giving our tithes (10%) and offerings (anything above and beyond) is a tangible way to acknowledge that everything we have is God’s to begin with. Giving the first portion of our income back to Him allows our church to do ministry and to help meet the needs of those throughout our community and world.
You can give by using this link or you may also text to give by texting the word "Give" to 614.808.8008 and choosing "Multiply Christian Church" as the recipient. Thank you!
