Group Discussion: When you really want to spend time with God and pray do you have a certain place you go where you feel very connected to Him?

Read out loud: Luke 18:9-17

How do you adore kids to the Kingdom of God?

#1. Love your spouse. If you had to pick one of the four, which one would you say you’re practicing the most consistently? B – bless, E – edify, S – share, T- touch? Which one do you need to develop the most? Do you and your spouse have a weekly date night without kids? If you have no kids or are empty nesters have you ever considered baby sitting for another couple so they can have a date night once a month?

#2. Discipline – sounds funny but there’s no sense of security without discipline. What kind of discipline was used in your family as you were growing up? Do you think it was too harsh or too lenient…or just right? Do you think positive reinforcement, time out, or corporeal punishment is the best and how do different kids react to different discipline.

#3. Read to them and pay them to read during summers. “How much will you pay me to read this?” should be the question that’s asked every week during summer. What was your favorite book growing up? What is your favorite genre of book, murder mystery, auto/biography, history, poetry, Bible? If you said Bible just to look spiritual, God knows the truth!!!

#4. Listen carefully and respond thoughtfully. Do you agree with this: more is caught than taught? If this is true, every time you allow your children to finish talking before you answer them will model careful listening for them and they will incorporate into their lifestyle. True? Do you every say to your kids, “Let me think about that for a few minutes.” and then get back to them before they get back to you?

#5. Have fun. What is the activity that you had with your parents that you consider to be the most you had as a child? What do you do with your kids that they would say is their most fun activity with you? What do you consider your most fun activity with your kids now no matter their age.

#6. Vision of future. Cindy and I made college a vision of the future for our kids, what are you creating for a vision of the future for your kids? Are you satisfied with that or would you like to change it? Agree/Disagree: What is normal exposure becomes life-long adherence.

Family Time: Read Luke 18:16-17 and ask your kids why would adults try and keep kids away from Jesus and does Jesus love kids? Now do something fun!
