Dig Deeper:
1. As we wrap us 1 Peter, what has stood out to you the most during this sermon series?
2. Read 1 Peter 5:6-7. Define what humility is and what it isn’t.
3. How is a low self-view different than humility? How can having a low view of yourself be as disruptive as having a high view of yourself? How does pride play a part in both of these views?
4. What does it mean for us to humble ourselves “under the mighty hand of God”? How does God play a part in our humility?
5. How does “casting our cares on him” help with humility? Describe a time when casting your cares on God helped you with humility.
6. What promises are made to those who are humble?
7. Define sober-minded. What role does this play in our humility and dependence on God?
8. Read 1 Peter 5:8-9. Discuss all the names that are used to describe Satan, as well as his actions, that are described in this passage. Look up Genesis 3:1-4, John 8:44, and 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 for additional descriptions. Compare and contrast what you read.
9. Is it easier for Satan to “attack” at certain times than others, especially when we are not alert? Why? Describe a time when you were not being alert and the enemy was able to attack.
10. What does a spiritual attack look like to you?
11. Read James 4:7-8. What are ways we can resist the devil?
12. When it comes to suffering under Satan’s attacks, what encouragements and promises do we receive?
13. Think of a time when you have felt strong physically. What got you there? How does that compare to being spiritually strong?
14. Does knowing others are suffering change the way you approach resisting our adversary? How so?
15. In relation to others who truly suffer for their faith in a way we don’t experience in our culture, how can we be focused on praying for those people?
16. Read 1 Peter 5:10-11. How is God the “God of all grace”?
17. For each category, define ways that God can restore, establish, strengthen, and support us?
18. How can we encourage and fight for each other to stand firm?

Live It Out:
How are you actively fighting to believe the incredibly encouraging truth that Peter states in these verses?

1. Be humbly dependent on God: Determine a way (through words, writing, or both) that you can cast your cares on God. Pray to Him an honest pray about your cares. Write in a journal what is troubling you and submit that to Him. Use a bible app, or other tool, to find scripture that you can memorize or write down to help you stay dependent on Him.
2. Stand firm against the adversary: Pastor Josh mentioned biblical ways to stand firm against Satan: resist temptations, apply God’s Word, forgive, and put on the armor of God. Describe how you can stand firm in each of these areas based on the obstacles you are facing currently. Write them down somewhere to remember them throughout the week.
3. Be assured of His eternal promises: This week, identify at least one way for each category where God can restore you, establish you, strengthen you, and support you. Pray for continued focus to be surrender to Him and to rest in His eternal promises.
