Baptisms
Sundays, August 7 & 14 | When God changes your life, it's worth celebrating! We're so excited for the baptisms coming up in August. Get in touch with Pastor Ken (kbushey@mantenonazarene.org) to go public with your faith or celebrate what God's been up to in your life!

Volleyball
Mondays | 7-9pm | We are trying to get a Monday night Volleyball game going here at church. Anyone is welcome. For more information, contact Mykenna Eckhoff.

New Student Ministries Pastor
If you've somehow missed it, we are so excited to have our new Student Ministries Pastor, Marcus Cleveland, and his wonderful family joining us here at Manteno Nazarene! Marcus has experience in student ministries with his most recent assignment being in Bicknell, IL. His wife, Casey, works as an oncologist. They have three awesome young sons; Arthur, Gus, and Finn. We want to give a warm welcome to Marcus and his amazing family as they arrive August 8. Our plan is twofold - we want to give them gift cards as they move in and we want to give them local knowledge. You know, the kinda stuff you ask your neighbor when you move in; dog groomers, best places to ride your bike, the coolest play park and splash pad, who has the best chimichangas, who to call when it's 10pm and your basement is flooding, which dmv to go to, and of course - who has the best pizza. Please pick up a card in the lobby or bring one from home, and drop it in the basket in the lobby.

Pregnancy Resource Center
If you would like to donate to the Pregnancy Resource Center, we have baby bottles to fill with change available at the welcome center. Please return them to the church by September 1.

Amazon Smile and Kroger Community Rewards
AmazonSmile and Kroger Community Rewards are simple ways for you to support your favorite charitable organization, Manteno Church of the Nazarene, every time you shop, at no cost to you. With Amazon Smile, we have earned around $500 so far, with very minimal effort on our end. With both of these programs, you just have to choose the nonprofit you want to support. For Kroger instructions, go to https://bit.ly/3azLRYU and for Amazon Smile instructions, go to https://amzn.to/3ce1vto

Membership
We are getting ready to schedule membership classes towards the end of summer. Contact Pastor Ken (Kbushey@mantenonazarene.org) if that interests you or if you would just like to know more about the Church of the Nazarene.

Part-Time Custodian Job Opening
We have a part-time opening for a custodian here at the church. They must be available to work Saturdays. If you are interested, a job description and application are available at the welcome center or at https://bit.ly/3O6GLRt

Nazarene Youth Conference
Our students are gearing up to attend Nazarene Youth Conference in Tampa Bay next July. It is a life-changing experience. The cost is going to be $1200 plus airfare and students who are entering 8th through 12th grades are eligible. If your student is interested they can go to https://ccdnyi.com/nyc-2023 or talk to Melody Grimm for more information. If you don't have students who are interested in going - just be aware, fundraising will be hot and heavy this year.

Graves Into Gardens
Expand
Verse 1
I searched the world but it couldn't fill me
Man's empty praise and treasures that fade
Are never enough
Then You came along and put me back together
And every desire is now satisfied here in Your love

Chorus
Oh there's nothing better than You
There's nothing better than You
Lord there's nothing
Nothing is better than You

Verse 2
I'm not afraid to show You my weakness
My failures and flaws
Lord You've seen them all
And You still call me friend
'Cause the God of the mountain
Is the God of the valley
And there's not a place
Your mercy and grace won't find me again

Bridge
You turn mourning to dancing
You give beauty for ashes
You turn shame into glory
You're the only one who can

Bridge
You turn graves into gardens
You turn bones into armies
You turn seas into highways
You're the only one who can

Living Hope
Expand
Verse 1
How great the chasm that lay between us
How high the mountain I could not climb
In desperation I turned to heaven
And spoke Your name into the night
Then through the darkness Your loving-kindness
Tore through the shadows of my soul
The work is finished the end is written
Jesus Christ my living hope

Verse 2
Who could imagine so great a mercy
What heart could fathom such boundless grace
The God of ages stepped down from glory
To wear my sin and bear my shame
The cross has spoken I am forgiven
The King of kings calls me His own
Beautiful Savior I’m Yours forever
Jesus Christ my living hope

Chorus
Hallelujah praise the One who set me free
Hallelujah death has lost its grip on me
You have broken every chain
There’s salvation in Your name
Jesus Christ my living hope

Verse 3
Then came the morning that sealed the promise
Your buried body began to breathe
Out of the silence the Roaring Lion
Declared the grave has no claim on me
(REPEAT)
Jesus Yours is the victory whoa

Ending
Jesus Christ my living hope
Oh God You are my living hope

How Great Thou Art
Expand
Verse 1
O Lord my God
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds
Thy hands have made
I see the stars
I hear the rolling thunder
Thy pow'r thru'out
The universe displayed

Chorus
Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art
Then sings my soul
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art

Verse 2
When through the woods
And forest glades I wander
And hear the birds
Sing sweetly in the trees
When I look down
From lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook
And feel the gentle breeze

Verse 3
And when I think
That God His Son not sparing
Sent Him to die
I scarce can take it in
That on the cross
My burden gladly bearing
He bled and died
To take away my sin

Verse 4
When Christ shall come
With shout of acclamation
And take me home
What joy shall fill my heart
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim
My God how great Thou art

Rooted…In Prayer
Colossians 4:2-6, 12-13
July 17, 2022

Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Colossians 4:3-4
And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

Lord, open the door, open their hearts, open my mouth.

Lord, open the door…

Lord, open the door, open their hearts…

Colossians 1:9-10
We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God…

Colossians 4:4
Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.

Lord, open the door, open their hearts, open my mouth.

Colossians 4:5
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders…

Colossians 4:5
…make the most of every opportunity.

Colossians 4:6
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt

Colossians 4:12
Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.

Colossians 4:13
I vouch for him that he is working hard for you...

Philemon 1:23
Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings.

Colossians 1:7
You learned it from Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ…
