The conversation was the result of the hard weekend many experienced with the tragic police shooting in Akron, OH and the Highland Park, IL tragedy at the 4th of July parade.

Prodigal Son - THE SERVANTS
Theologians believe the servants portray those who serve Jesus; Christ Followers…
They are not just Christians…
-Christians ≠ Followers of Jesus
Many Christians are just consumers…
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Ephesians 5:1
“… even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:28
So if we are going to imitate God – we have to start by being a SERVANT!!
Role of Servants -- Witness:
●THE SERVANTS HAD INFLUENCE
14 And when he had spent everything, a severe famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, who sent him into his fields to feed pigs. 16 And he was longing to be fed with the pods that the pigs ate, and no one gave him anything. 17 “But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have more than enough bread, but I perish here with hunger! Luke 15:14–17 (ESV)
•Their hearts
•Their actions
•Their faithfulness
If you are being a Servant and being a true Christ Follower, YOU HAVE GODLY INFLUENCE!!!
YOU ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD!
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14–16 (ESV)
●THE SERVANTS HAD ABUNDANCE.
When he finally came to his senses, he said to himself, ‘At home even the hired servants have food enough to spare, and here I am dying of hunger!’
Luke 15:17
Perisseuó – to have an abundance, overflow.
15 And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. 16 Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit. 18 I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. 19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:15-19 (ESV)
●BECAUSE THEY SERVED, LIFE CHANGE HAPPENED.
22 But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring quickly the best robe, and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet. 23 And bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate. Luke 15:22–24 (ESV)
IT’S THE DIFFERENCE A SERVANT MAKES
The question becomes – are you a Christian or a Follower of Jesus?
-Are you being a consumer or a contributor?
-Are you being a servant?
We are on a mission!
What are you waiting for?
How much more does God have to bless you before you give back?
