Text: Romans 5:1-11
(WE ARE WORSE THAN WE THINK WE ARE, BUT JESUS IS BETTER THAN WE THINK HE IS.)
I SOME COMMENTARY FOR CONTEXT
II WE ARE WORSE THAN WE THINK WE ARE
A. “Weak” (v. 6, “While we were still weak.”).
B. “Ungodly” (v. 6, “Christ died for the ungodly.”).
C. “Sinners” (v. 8, “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”).
D. “Enemies” (v. 10, “while we were enemies we were reconciled to God.”)
III “BUT GOD” v. 8
IV JESUS IS BETTER THAN WE THINK HE IS
“Christ died for the ungodly.” “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” “We have now been justified by his blood.” We shall “be saved by him from the wrath of God.” “While we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son.”
