Does God Have a Will for My Life - Phil Kendon
We begin our Experiencing God series today by exploring the topic: Does God have a will for my life? God’s will for our lives starts with the work he is already doing. God invites us into his mission and our lives find purpose as we play our part in the big picture of what he is doing. We can see some evidence of this principle as we look at the characters of the bible. In one example from 1 Kings 5, a captured Jewish slave girl finds herself playing a key role in God’s work in her master’s life. But the servant of the prophet, Elisha, misses out on what God is doing even though he is in the perfect position to play his part.

1. There is nothing stopping us from doing God’s will
If a captured slave can do it then there can be nothing preventing us from doing it too.
If a captured slave can do it then there can be nothing preventing us from doing it too.
2. It’s all about him
Because it is all about God, we don’t need to get any recognition.
Because it is all about God, we don’t need to get any recognition.
3. We get front row seats
When we do God’s will, we get to witness God’s work first hand.
When we do God’s will, we get to witness God’s work first hand.
4. Jesus is our prime example
Jesus only does what he sees the Father doing and only speaks what the Father commands him to speak.
Jesus only does what he sees the Father doing and only speaks what the Father commands him to speak.
Remember:
God’s will for us is to play our part in his mission.
God’s will for us is to play our part in his mission.
