The moment we are in doesn’t pause the mission we are on. -Ed Stetzer
1. Witness -- taking what Jesus did in my life and sharing with someone else so they can experience him too.
25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, 26 and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and bonds were unfastened. When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.” 29 And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas.
30 Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 And they said, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family. 34 Then he brought them up into his house and set food before them. And he ejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God. Acts 16:25-34 (ESV)
2. Follow the command of the Great Commission…focus on the mission!
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew. 28:18-20
PAUL AND SILAS WERE FOCUSED ON THE MISSION.
2. Follow the command of the Great Commission…focus on the mission!
And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
Acts 1:10-11
3. Don’t just stand here and gaze at Jesus! Jesus is with you always, not up in the sky – His Holy Spirit is with you – go spread the gospel – BE A WITNESS!!
THE RIPPLE EFFECT
-The guard was going to kill himself…
-We all know someone who is on the verge of spiritually or even physically giving up! Having no hope!
- But Paul calls for the man and we see the phrase “COME/SEE” go into action as the bible says the man RUSHED IN.
-He saw what God had done and he gave his life to Jesus and then he told his entire family and they were saved as well!!
4. Freedom is not a means of escape, but an opportunity to witness!
What miracle has Jesus done in your life that you need to share with others?
5. PRAY, INVITE, BRING. How can you be a witness this week?
