In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus preparing His disciples for what life will look like after He dies on the cross. There is a lot of overlap between this teaching moment that He has with His disciples here, and what He teaches back in chapter 21. In fact, in both places He makes it clear that His disciples are to not get led astray by things here on earth (as those things will pass away) and to realize that things will get bad for them while they’re here on earth. Jesus makes it clear in both passages that the reaction to these things happening should not be to freak out, but to rather to:
1. Keep on doing God’s will
Luke 21:5-19, 22:34-38, Jer. 29:4-14, Acts 7
2. Always pray
Luke 21:34-36, 22:39-46, Phil. 4:5-9, 1 Tim. 2:1-6
3. Remember God’s plan
Luke 21:20-33, 22:47-53, Jer. 29:11, Rom. 8:28
