In this passage of God’s Word, we see Jesus’ disciples bickering over which one of them are the greatest. Jesus responds to them, not out of anger, but out of love, and teaches them what it truly means to be great in the Kingdom of God. By taking a close look at this passage of God’s Word, we can learn that God’s standards for greatness, are very different from the world’s standards. Jesus teaches His disciples that:
1. It is better to serve, than to be served
Luke 22:25-27, Matt. 6:1-4, Acts 20:35, Gal. 5:13-14, Matt. 20:28, Mark 10:44-45, John 13:12-14, 1 Pet. 4:10
2. Every believer serves a different role in God’s Kingdom
Luke 22:28-30, Rev. 21:14, 1 Pet. 4:10, Rom. 12:6-8, 1 Cor. 12:4-6
3. None of us are immune to failure
Luke 22:31-34, Ecc. 7:20, Rom. 3:23-24, 5:12, 1 John 1:8-9
