Until the Time Comes
2 Timothy 4:5-8
Pastor Jerry Koller
Notice how, at the very beginning of this passage Paul makes a comparison between Timothy and those mentioned in verses 3-4. The insinuation is that Timothy not allow himself to become like that group.
Other translations say:
· Be sobor in all things (NASB)
· Always be sobor-minded (ESV)
Don’t make rash judgments. Don’t react to quickly to pressure. Don’t become irrational. Don’t allow temptation to have its way. Keep your wits about you, Timothy. Keep your head.
Endure Hardship—This has to do with suffering as a result of evil.
Do the Work of an Evangelist—The word translated evangelist is found in three places in the New Testament. The word means one who brings good news.
This admonition is given to Timothy who was overseeing the church in Ephesus.
Timothy was not an evangelist. Still, he was to do the work of an evangelist along with the rest of his responsibilities.
Discharge All Your Duties—He was to carry out his ministry fully. He was to fulfill his ministry.
In the next three verses, Paul gives Timothy a very personal, intimate glimpse into his heart so that he may follow in his footsteps.
There are two key components of this word picture: the sacrificial element and the pouring out element.
So it shall be for all to finish the race—including you and I.
Completing the Race is the Ultimate Goal
Until that time comes, Fight, Finish, Keep.
Happy Birthday!

Fundraiser: Door Repairs and Replacement

If you have noticed when you enter the church through our main entrance, the outside steel doors are in rough shape. It has been determined that they need to be replaced. In addition, all the fire doors in the east wing need repair or adjustments; so do the double steel doors in the gym on the east side of the building. We have contacted S.A. Morman and Co. in Portage to fix these issues. The cost will run approximately $14,400.00. If there is any way you could contribute to this expense, it would be greatly appreciated. You can simply mark your donation with “Doors” and drop it in the offering on Sunday morning or make an online contribution at
