QUESTIONS
(1) Do you feel like you’ve ever “heard” God speak to you? If so, what was that experience like? If not, what do you imagine that would be like?
(2) We talked about knowing the will of God in our lives. Often, we just want God to give us a yes or no to a decision we need to make. Should I buy this house or that house, etc. Why do you think we want God to speak out on all those specifics of our life?
(3) We talked about General vs. Specific will. General will is all the things that we know from the Bible, etc. about who we are to be, how we are to live as followers of Jesus. That is God’s general will for us and it’s more important than specific will (decision between multiple choices). Why do you think being in God’s general will for your life is more important?
(4) Read John 6:38-40. What does this say about God’s will for Jesus? For us? Is that general will or specific?
(5) Matt talked about the “Harbor Lights” – 5 ways we can get God’s direction for our life (Sense of God’s Spirit, God’s Word, Godly counsel, Personal preference, circumstances). The more of those that line up, the more confident we can be in God’s direction for us. Why is it important to have more than 1 line up?
(6) Which one of those Harbor Lights do you need to spend more time on or take a step in? Why?
(7) Read Romans 12:1-2. What does this say about how we can “test and approve what God’s will is” (hint: bodies and minds)? What do you think that looks like in your life?
