Prayer Requests:

Group Discussion: Who’s a person from your past you think was humble because they served others so faithfully?

Read out loud: Luke 14:7-11
Look through the pride test in your sermon notes and choose at least one each and talk about your struggle with that type of pride.

How do I grow my humility?
#1. Make your role model Jesus…He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death… Philippians 2:8.
Notice Paul says he obeyed God by being obedient even when it cost Him His life. Do you think culture considers a humble person to be a push over? How does our cultural definition of humility and the real Biblical definition of humility differ?
What character trait are you working on to become more like Jesus?

#2. Make the Kingdom of God your inspiration. The Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all peoples on this mountain;A banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow,And refined, aged wine. Isaiah 25:6

Tony Campolo wrote, “The Kingdom of God is a Party.” In it he describes the greatest party you could think of being heaven, just without the sin and corruption of an earthly party. What would it be like to you, what are the elements of a party in heaven?

#3. Make humility a process not an achievement. Pursue Love.
I Corinthians 14:1

Have you ever been chased by a dog, a bull or another animal? How was your pulse, adrenaline, heart rate and respiratory rate? Why do we think of love as an emotional feeling rather than actions that resemble the stress and effort of escaping a charging animal? You and your group choose a service project that would take some sweat and effort to complete, when will you do it? How does that express love to the person you’re serving?

Family Time: If you and your family sit in the same chairs around the dining room table every night pick one chair and call it the VIP chair. Every night a new person gets to sit in the VIP chair. They get their food first, they get first choice of everything, and they get to choose that morning what dessert will be that night. They also get to choose what they would like to talk about and everybody else has to think up something and contribute to the conversation.
