Sermonic Text: Exodus 2: 1-10

Sermonic Title: "A Caring Mother"

Exodus 2:1-10

“GOD SHALL BRING IT TO PASS”

Many are petitioning God for something, and many of these petitions require God to move miraculously. God welcomes the petition of believers, and He enjoys moving miraculously; however, we must do our part. In Psalm 37:5, David said: “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” When we commit our way unto the Lord and trust Him, God will “bring it to pass.” In other words, God will move mightily on our behalf. Hence, I encourage each of us to live being totally committed to God and to live totally trusting God. Our commitment and trust in regards to the Lord are obligatory if we want God to “bring it to pass.”

THE RUINATION OF A CHURCH
Someone once said that “the two things that will ruin a church are loose living and tight giving.” A church will be unhealthy and stagnate if the people who attend that church practice loose living rather than holy living. Also, a church will be unhealthy and stagnate if the people who attend that church practice tight giving rather than generous giving. God gave bountifully when He permitted His only begotten son to die for the remission of our sins, so we should give bountifully also. 2 Corinthians 9:6 reads: “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.”

Tithing is an important part of our faith, and tithing (10 % of our gross income/increase) should be money we set aside before paying anything else. Our offerings are what we give in addition to our tithes. At St. John, we currently give in person during Sunday Morning Worship Celebrations, by mailing or dropping off our tithes and offerings at our Administration Building or South Campus, or by giving online through our website (sjmbc.org).

THE FAMILY LIFE CENTER
After a long journey, the City of Richmond has finally granted us building permits to construct our Family Life Center. We hope to begin construction soon! The Family Life Center will be adjacent to our current sanctuary at the North Campus, which will consist of a gymnasium, game room (for the youth), and weight room. Also, a parking lot will be across the street from this edifice.

Many of us made a pledge that we fulfilled, but some have not. I personally thank those of us who have already fulfilled our pledge and others who have made “Building Fund” contributions. I encourage everyone (if you have not already done so) to :

1) $10,000.00 or more
2) $5,000.00 to $9,999.00
3) $1,000.00 to $4,999.00
4) $500.00 to $999.00
5) Below $500.00

BIBLICAL RECAPITULATION
God will bless us and “bring it to pass” if we commit our way unto Him and trust Him (Ps. 37:5). Moreover, if we give biblically and bountifully (2 Cor. 9:6), our church will continue to prosper rather than experience ruination.

May God bless and sustain each of us.

Your Servant In Christ,
